A and D are your two buttons which control everything to make up combinations of, shooting jumping and dashing.
Do not hold your aim for too long lest your arm gets tired and the arrow flops out the bow! The games look and feel is heavily inspired by the behemoths background art on their website. Dan Paladin is a great artist and is a huge inspiration.
The core jump and shoot mechanic without any of the fluff only took a few days after work to get the bare bones going and at this stage I felt that the two button combo thing was working and working well! So I kept going.
Skills of an adept bowmen
1. The bread and butter combo of the game. A D which fires a normal shot as depicted below.
The simplicity of the shot works great for hitting mobs in the chest for 10 experience, makes light work of mobs running at you.
2. Jump and Shoot, jump and shoot! Megaman inspired gameplay. It’s a classic and it really is satisfying when you line up the jump to shoot a bird out the air, which then drop crates that repair your castle!!! How does a crate repair a castle I hear you ask? Who knows… Oh Look you can shoot in the air!
D A to jump then A D to shoot in the air.
NB!! The birds death is necessary for your survival.
3. Dashing. Dashing is a fancy maneuver that a skillful bowmen can use to evade fireballs that spew forth from the dragons mouth! It is also a useful skill to employ to avoid falling into flames on the ground, and also traveling faster towards those crates!
I had a lot of fun making this game, and learned a lot during the process, I hope that you give it a play and end up having even a modicum of fun.
