Inspired by all things Blizzard I’m trying to skill up and make more assets, specifically medieval knights swords and princesses. I’m not entirely happy with where this is at at the moment. She feels stuck in the middle of real and stylized and so stopping before the texturing phase to find more appealing shape design to push more towards the stylized zone.
I enjoy the middle ages themes like knights, princesses, swords and horses. I also enjoy renaissance paintings, so I tried to combine them. Also trying to mimic some techniques I’ve seen in paintings where the red underpainting starts bleeding through into the darkest darks. I may have gone overboard here as a the result making the guy feel slightly on the jelly side, specially in the hair.
Killing time with this guy would be fun. Settled with killing time painting him.
Reference was used. Instead of going for colors accurate to the reference, I tried using a limited pallet of Red and Orange and Grey, something I had fun with getting the cools from desaturated oranges. Things I like about this one are the high saturated spots leaking trough everywhere.
Instead of writing enemy behavior you can always fall back on making logos. It’s pretty much what will sell the game right? bahh Making anything that’s not your game is procrastination. My game is not my logo and whilst it was fun painting this, it’s totally not what I should be doing. I still need to get a solid loop going. I would like to show best score, kill and time stats, I want to experiment with larger playing areas and I want to finish a darn game!
Games name is Circle Slash… and now the logo says Soul Sphere… procrastination doesn’t make sense, so stop and get on with making the game!
The Stare of the homeless can send you into some foreign galaxies, they twinkle in the void waiting to get noticed.
There are many ways in which to procrastinate than actually making your game.
Spear Deah, a deer with a spear. Thanks @Wahooney for the suggestion, deah hopping around fighting like oberyn martell style would be amazing!
Some spear options and an updated deah diffuse texture. Those spears kinda look like they’ve been imbued with something of a freezing nature. could be cool to turn enemies to ice after landing successive hits and then being able to finish them with a special combo that breaks them into little bits, with over the top ice breaking effects!
I got to a throne room of some kind and chose bigger explosions, needless to say the victory was short lived, but so sweet. Here’s to you melting!
I got super inspired by watching AaronBlaise paint. His channel has some good stuff go check it out. Painted this baby lion from ref and tried to incorporate some of his focal techniques.
